What Makes OnTap Different?

<OnTAP> allows you to find qualified tenants for your properties without all of the hassle.
The applicants fills out their own information.
The applicant pays for the screening.

No legal issues with the reports, since the applicant is the one sharing the report.

Who is target market for OnTap?

<OnTAP> was designed for small to mid-sized landlords and property owners.  When we looked around the competitive landscape, we found that this segment of the market was underserved. As you may already know getting access to a credit report for a small landlord is a tall order with all the legal mess and bureau oversight of your business. With <OnTAP>‘s process of having the applicant pay for their own report and share with you, this cuts out all of that red tape. No need for onsite inspections and yearly bureau audits.

How does OnTap work?

Just create a free account and start sending out application requests. You get your own <OnTAP> application link that you can send out any way you want, or let us take care of the emailing for you. After reviewing the application, a screening request is just a click away. Once the applicant has completed the screening, reviewed it and commented, all they do is share with you and you will be instantly notified that you have a new screening report to review.

How much will OnTap cost?

<OnTAP> is completely free for the landlord.  We charge nothing for the use of our application and database. The applicant is charged directly for the screening, so there is no need to collect payment from your applicants any more. All these application and screenings are held encrypted on our secure servers for you to access anytime that you need them.

My Experian credit file is frozen, can I still use OnTap?

<OnTAP> relies on the credit file to create the questions to verify your identity. If your file is frozen, this process will fail and you will not be able to view the applicant’s credit report. No worries though, Experian allows you to temporarily lift your credit freeze. Once you complete the <OnTAP> identity verification, just have Experian restart your freeze. Why use an online database?

Rental applications and screening reports contain quite a bit of personal information such as addresses, social security numbers, dates of birth, etc.  If this information falls into the wrong hands, it can cause you and your applicants innumerable problems.  We eliminate the risk of this information being lost or viewed by someone other than you. Keeping personal information in a file cabinet is not the best idea! <OnTAP> stores all information in a secure online database housed in a very secure data center.  All communications are encrypted and only you have access to the data, making it much safer than a file cabinet!

Is OnTap safe and secure?

Yes!  The application data and screening reports submitted to you are stored in an annually audited secure data center, all transactions are encrypted, and only you have access to the data.

Can the application form be edited?

The current version of <OnTAP> does not have an editable form, but a future release might. We will keep you updated on all upgrades and new features!

How long is my identify verification good for?

As long as you view a report every 90 days, your identify verification is good for one year.

How much will OnTap cost?

<OnTAP> does not charge you to fill out a rental application. If the landlord wishes you to complete the screening process then <OnTAP> will need to collect a fee for your screening reports. Unlike other screening processes that do not allow you to view the screening reports before the landlord reviews them, <OnTAP> has you review your reports and gives you the opportunity to make comments if there is information contained in them that you would like to explain.

Access to your credit file is required to retrieve the credit report and verify your identity. If your credit file is frozen these processes will fail.

Why do Some of the search returns not belong to me?

Results return are based on the information you entered. If you omit your middle name, results may be returned for people who share your first and last name but are not you. If this happens, we give you a comment field to inform the landlord that some of the results do not belong to you.

Can I just rerun the report with the additional information IF INFORMATION I ENTERED WAS NOT SPECIFIC ENOUGH AND SOME OF THE RETURN RESULTS ARE NOT MINE?

Unfortunately, no. For one thing, we’d have to charge you AGAIN for the report. Also, the system is not designed to have multiple reports per applicant.

However, this is not necessary. <OnTAP> allows you to explain this situation in the comments so that the landlord knows to ignore those records.

Why did I get an error when I hit the back button?

Like most modern websites, hitting the back button can cause unforeseen issues. We recommend that you do not hit the back button, especially when completing the ordering process.
